Sanitary, Food and Veterinary Law

Following the guiding principle: "heal the sick - protect the healthy", sanitary law is regulated by a large number of legal provisions. This unit offers legal advice, deals with procedures and issues licences for a wide range of fields, from the AIDS Act to the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Act up to the Death and Funeral Act. Another area of responsibility is the supervision of sound management of the Styrian Health Resort Funds and the appointment of the members of the Health Resorts Committee.

In the field of legislative processes, the unit drafts and amends laws, ordinances and directives for the entire Health, Care and Science Department and issues statements on draft federal and State laws, ordinances and legal matters of the European Union. In addition, it prepares model notices and decrees for the department.
