Tasks and responsibilities
- Enforcement of legal provisions under the Healthcare and Nursing Act (GuKG), Federal Act on the Ordinance of Advanced Medical Technical Services (MTD), Midwifery Act (HebG), Paramedics Act (SanG), Medical Masseur and Remedial Masseur Act (MMHmG), Medical Assistant Professions Act (MABG), Styrian Social Care Professions Act (StSBBG), Styrian Nursing Home Act (StPHG), Dentists Act (ZÄG)
- Official approvals and inspections of training facilities/trainings pursuant to GuKG, MMHmG, SanG, MABG, StSBBG, ZÄG and the training ordinance
- Examination committee member - social care professions Styria
- Chair of examinations - special training pursuant to the GuKG
- Nostrification and recognition of foreign professional qualifications in the above-mentioned legal provisions
- Needs-oriented planning and implementation of health education programmes
- Basic principles and strategy development of health education programmes
- Statements on draft laws and ordinances
- Styrian representative for health education programmes
- Commissioned by the head of the department, the Health Professions Unit is in charge of the following schools in Styria:
- 7 schools for healthcare and nursing
- Courses for nursing assistant training at 6 locations in Styria
- 1 school dedicated to the preparation for training in the upper grade of the civil service for healthcare and nursing
- 2 Styrian boarding schools/residences of the healthcare and nursing schools (Graz, Leoben)
- 2 schools for medical assistant professions
- Courses for medical assistant professions at the schools of the State of Styria
- Theoretical training (courses) for dental assistants - in organisational, economic, HR-related, professional and legal matters, including the enforcement of the training ordinances stipulated in GuKG, MABG, StSBBG, SanG, the Training Ordinance for Dental Assistants (ZASS), and procurement procedures.

- Development and implementation of training courses in cooperation with the University of Graz; Uni for Life; pedagogical and organisational management of university courses (special training courses pursuant to the GuKG) university courses (further training courses pursuant to the GuKG) and further training courses for members of the nursing professions.
