You can also contact us by electronic means (e-mail, fax or online form), but please note the technical requirements. Any matters submitted by electronic means outside our office hours will only be received and processed when our office staff resume work again. This means that the submission will be deemed to have been submitted and received only at that time.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Licensing of nursing homes operated by the State, a social welfare association, a local authority, or a commercial enterprise owned by a regional administrative body (e.g. KAGes).
- Licensing and supervision of providers of family mental health care.
- Supervision of the district administrative authority in the context of the licensing of facilities providing family mental health care places, other care places and nursing homes where the Government of the State of Styria is not the approving authority.
- Review of nursing home licences issued by the Government of the State of Styria.
- Withdrawal of nursing home licences and of licences for the provision of family mental health care.
- Needs and development planning for care in Styria for the extramural and inpatient care sector
- Daily rate calculation (financing pursuant to the Styrian Social Assistance Act - SHG of nursing home operators with contract and notice).
- Care Fund Act, Care Services Statistics Ordinance.
- Provision and management of a database with care-relevant data to be filled in by the care home operators.
- Needs assessments
- Complaints management (e.g. Ombudsman Board complaints).
- Strategic planning, financing of standard costs, handling of funding and quality assurance for:
- Mobile care and assistance services.
- Home healthcare services.
- Daycare.
- Assisted living.
- Alternative living arrangements.
- 24-hour care.
- Case and care management.
Needs and Development Plan 2025
With the Needs and Development Plan for Persons in Need of Care, Styria 2025 (BEP-St 2025), the State of Styria fulfilled an agreement between the Federal Government and the States and also followed the recommendation of the Styrian Court of Audit.
An essential feature of the present Needs and Development Plan is its methodology, which allows for simultaneous planning of care and assistance services up to the year 2025.
Informal care and its expected development are also included in these considerations.
After the Government of the State of Styria has passed a resolution on the Needs and Development Plan and following notification of the Styrian Parliament, the responsible Special Department Health and Nursing Management will begin to implement the plan against the background of budgetary possibilities.
Any necessary legal changes will be taken into account in the new legal provisions on nursing and care.
On 20 October 2015, the "Needs and Development Plan for Persons in Need of Care" was acknowledged unanimously by the Styrian Parliament in their 5th session of the XVIIth legislative period.
