Waste - a valuable resource, now and in the future
A central objective of waste management in Styria is the targeted control of material flows and the creation of closed material cycles, accompanied by the highest possible degree of utilisation of materials taken from nature. Depending on their content of reusable material and pollutants, the waste flows will be properly recycled and after material or thermal recycling, they will be disposed of (dumped). The prevention, reuse and recycling of waste saves resources; and the provision of secondary raw materials counteracts the increasing raw material shortage. The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is an important contribution to climate protection.
